Final Posting (Florine)

A friend of my friends, poetic and kind, wrote some words that are an appropriate ending to Florine"s saga as seen through my eyes:

"We're all muddling through life for a reason,
Unclear as it sometimes may be,
And the highs and lows of experience are just
two different sides of the same spinning coin.
In the end all that really matters is the effort you
Make to do the most with your particular place in time.

- Frankie Laine

Goodbye Babe,

My love through eternity..

Dearest John -
We haven't telephoned because we don't want to "bother" you, but in a few days, we will call you. Meanwhile, any time, night or day, if you need to speak to someone, please call us - we're here for you always. The pain has subsided a little, and her joy and laughter and wisdom creep in in the oddest moments - she's still here, watching over us all. Guess you're shutting down this blog - that, too, will hurt, but the severance is necessary, we understand. It was wonderful to be able to "talk" to you and all the others who loved her so dearly.
Love always,
Annie & Willie.

Uncle John,
My thoughts are with you in the difficult days to come. The memorial that you had in celebration of Babe's life was beautiful. I loved meeting all of your friends and family . I know why they are so special to you. I think every one would share in my regret of not having enough time with Aunt Babe; she was so special. It is so hard when some one is taken away with no warning. My sorrow hits me in strange moments through out the day. I still can't believe that she is gone. I can't begin to imagine the lost that you feel. I hope that you will reach out to Jeff and me if you need someone to fill the quietness of your coming days. I know that Aunt Babe would want you to continue living with her zest for life. You can contact us anytime and you are always welcome in our home. I hope to see you in May for the MS150.

Dear John,

I haven’t posted a comment in the last few days because I knew you would be consumed with family and friends there in San Diego. I’m so glad so many who love you and Florine were there for you with their presence.

I have read every posting and every comment since your blog started and have come to learn so much about your family and friends. Many of us out here in “Blogland” have felt that your blog has been our only source of connection to you through this nightmare. I will miss it.

I echo the words of others who say, I am here for you when you need someone to talk to. Grief is a time of introspection and solitude and I will respect that. Healing, like your garden, will beckon you for nourishment and rebirth. Listen to it.

I will call you next week just to let you know that I’m thinking of you. If you’re not up for conversation, that’s fine. I’m always available by email: LSantomarco@aol.com.

Thinking of you,
Louise
