Florine's Journey

Florine is gone.

She sleeps, forever surrounded by love.

Goodnight my Queen. Your smile changed my destiny.

As a poet once said,

" No one else will sleep in my dreams. We are complete like a single river,

like a single grain of sand."

John - god bless you and keep you safe as you continue to grieve Florine's passing. Her heart was as big as her soul and many of us will never be able to know the joy you had together. But while you won't be able to hold the physical being, she shall never be further away than the memory of a shared event, the sweet smile on a stranger that reminds you of her, the kind words from family and friends, Woodrow's call looking for mom, the flowers in the garden and so on ...... these are the memories of a life well lived and shared with you.
Love to you and Florine's many many friends and family - I shall miss her dearly.

Dearest John,

No one has touched our lives as much as you and Florine. The friday night dinners will continue with a chair for the person of honor.

We worry now for you and will be with you soon to give you the support and strength needed to continue on.

The closest of friendship and love that we share will live on.

Florine will always be in our hearts and forever in our prayers.

We are all better in our lives for knowing her, no matter the length of time.

All our love to you and her family.
Love,
John & Pearl

Aurevoir / Farewell Florine,

you were my dearest cousin. You'll always have a very nice place in my heart.

John, I would never find the words to say how I'm feeling at this moment I'm hearing that Florine has gone.

Be courageous, John. We'll never forget you both.

Love,
Maurice and Family

Oh John
What the hell do we say??
We are all so so sad. The shock of Florine not being “here” is still so hard to fathom.
I have no words. They all seem so empty, so devoid of meaning or purpose. What does one say to someone who has shared such a magnificent relationship? Be happy and celebrate what you had because it was so rare????? You had 37 years of something so few people have?? All of this sounds so contrite.

The truth is THIS ALL REALLY REALLY SUCKS.

Now John, indulge in your loss and grief. Be gentle and forgiving with yourself as you travel through yet another journey. When you're ready, give healing a chance. See hope not in what has been taken from you, but rather, in what you were given. Florine. A rare and precious gift.

I'll be with you in spirit as you celebrate Florine's life on Thursday.

Dear John,

We are so sad about the latest news. It's hard to find the words to say something intelligent about it. So, we are just with you and thinking of you. We will never forget your kindness and friendship, Florine and you, when you came to our wedding and when you received us 2 years ago in your home. We will remember forever. Thanks for everything!

Dear John,
I can not tell you how heart broken I am about Florine's passing, being on other sides of the country,we did not see each other often, but still felt close as a family. Florine was truly a unique person, she had the sweetest smile I have ever seen, and a truly gentle spirit. Words cannot tell you how sad I am. Your words on the blog have given others the opportunity to glimpse at how special Florine was also. God's strength and peace be with you.

John - May God continue to grant you His Strength. I met Florine only once, and she left such an impression on me. Her beautiful spirit radiated around her and she showed her compassion, her gentleness, her love. All she is resonated the beautiful Grace that God had given her and she shared it so willingly, with all manner of friend and stranger alike. May blessings remain with you now and always.

John,

Florine was a very special person -so vivacious, warm and inviting. I remember the morning you, Florine and I took a long walk together many years ago in Tacoma Washington, the weekend of Ann's wedding. It was the first time I met you and Florine. You both made me feel like 'family' from the start. We talked alot about food on that morning and after the weekend she mailed me her 'Pita' recipe. Florine was truly a beautiful person - there are no words to express the sadness within our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you John.
With all our love, Julie and Steve Montano

Dear John,

I'm deeply saddened by your loss. I was out of the country when this happened and was shocked to hear the sad news when I returned. Florine made a positive impact on many lives, including mine. She was beautiful inside and out!! May God be with you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear John. We are so saddened by the loss of Florine. She had one of those "electric smiles" that lit up a room when she entered and she is remembered very fondly in our family. We've been deeply touched and inspired by the beautiful words you and others have posted here. Thank you for providing it for us to read. With deep sorrow and warmest personal regards,
